ATLANTA (Aug. 17, 2003) – A Macon man was shot to death at an Atlanta party early Saturday.
Mike Weaver, 20, was in the bathroom of a Buckhead apartment when a blast of buckshot from a 12-gauge shotgun came through the door, fatally wounding him in the side, Atlanta homicide Sgt. Sam Norris said.
Weaver, a student at Georgia College & State University in Milledgeville, went to the party with friends after attending a concert, according to Macon police officer Robert Eley, who had spoken to an Atlanta detective.
Police charged Jason Futch, 20, with murder, Eley said. “Apparently they were wrestling, and that escalated and led to an altercation,” said Atlanta police spokesman Sgt. John Quigley.
Eight people were in the apartment at 3 a.m. when the shooting happened.
