ATLANTA (Mar. 27, 2004) – A Brunswick man was indicted Friday on charges of shooting a Milledgeville man to death at a party last year.
A Fulton County grand jury indicted 20-year-old Jason Futch on charges of malice murder, felony murder, three counts of aggravated assault and three counts of possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime in the Aug. 16 shooting death of Mike Weaver, also 20, formerly of Macon.
Futch was also indicted Friday for pointing a gun at two other men and saying “‘You don’t know me. Get out of the way … I’m going to kill him,’ or words to that effect,” said Erik Friedly, spokesman for the Fulton County District Attorney’s Office. Friedly said no trial date has been set in the case.
Police said Weaver and several friends drove to Atlanta on Aug. 15 to attend a concert and later went to Futch’s Lenox Road apartment. Weaver and Futch were playfully wrestling when they got into an argument, officials said.
Weaver was in the bathroom of the Buckhead apartment when a blast of buckshot from a 12-gauge shotgun came through the door, fatally wounding him in the side, Atlanta homicide Sgt. Sam Norris said in an earlier interview with the Telegraph.
